Jerry Zalez, the youngest of three children, was born in the Bronx, NY in 1968 and raised by a single mother. His older cousin inspired him at a very young age with her constant picture taking and photography became a hobby when he was 12 years old. He was intrigued and then became one of his Junior High School’s photographers. It has remained his passion ever since.
A self made man, he taught himself the art of photography and started his business from scratch. He began working at an advertising agency and then a major NYC photo lab, Modern Age. From there he established Jerry Zalez Photography in 1993. The studio has always focused on actor’s headshots, fashion, artistic nudes, and entertainment photography
His clients include such record companies as Sony, Artemis, and Orpheus records. He has also worked with HBO, Hennessy, Johnny Walker, Chivas Regal, L’Oreal, and The New York Post.
He has also photographed a wide range of celebrities such as Usher, John Leguizamo, Shaquille O’Neal, Freddie Jackson, Paulina Rubio, Eva Longoria, Daddy Yankee, Felix Trinidad, Don King, Jake “the raging bull” LaMotta just to mention a few.
Fashion photography is also a substantial part of Jerry’s career. He has worked with prominent agencies such as IMG, Ford, Click, Wilhelmina and Elite models.
Most of all he enjoys his work and the quality of his photos speak for themselves. He carries himself in a professional yet easygoing manner that allows him to adapt to any situation, something that is imperative to being an exceptional photographer.
